Incredible Ilocos Norte

Ilocos Norte is a province of the Philippines located in the Ilocos Region. Its capital is Laoag City and is located at the northwest corner of Luzon Island, bordering Cagayan and Apayao to the east, and Abra and Ilocos Sur to the south. Ilocos Norte faces the South China Sea to the west and the Luzon Strait to the north.

Paoay Church

The facade and altars of the Paoay Church

The Church of Saint Augustine commonly known as the Paoay Church, is the Roman Catholic parish church of the municipality of Paoay, in Ilocos Norte. Completed in 1710, the church is famous for its distinct architecture highlighted by the enormous buttresses on the sides and back of the building. In 1993, the church was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site as one best examples of the Baroque churches of the Philippines

Bangui Wind Farm

Also known as Bangui Windmills is a wind farm in Bangui, Ilocos Norte, Philippines. The wind farm uses 20 units of 70-metre (230 ft) high Vestas V82 1.65 MW wind turbines, arranged on a single row stretching along a nine-kilometer shoreline off Bangui Bay, facing the West Philippine Sea.

Patapat Viaduct

Dubbed as “one of the most spectacular bridges in the world” and “the fifth longest bridge in the Philippines”, Patapat Viaduct is a 1.3 Km long that connects the Maharlika Highway from Laoag, Ilocos Norte to the Cagayan Valley Regions and it is elevated 31 meters over sea level. It was completed and opened to traffic in October 1986, it rises along the town’s coastal mountains, which is the starting point of the Cordillera Mountain Range that snakes through Northern Luzon. The Patapat Viaduct is located in the municipality of Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte, a coastal town found in the northernmost tip of Luzon.

Dubbed as “The jewel in the crown of Pagudpud” and “One of the Philippines best kept tourism secrets”, Saud Beach is a long curving 2 km of pure white sand. The reasons why it was chosen as Asia’s best beach are its pristine condition, rustic appeal, and it’s relative isolation from the tourist crowds. A popular venue for fashion photo shoots.
